Iranian presence in Suez C meaning?

The Iranian government has sent two naval ships to cross the Suez in Egypt and they are heading to Syria (with unknown equipment being carried). What does this mean? I am starting to think that Iran is attempting to challenge Israel and defy the west in the midst of an Arab revolution. What are their intentions? Is it simply a call for attention or is their a symbolic meaning behind their actions such that it could lead to a fight between Israel and the Persian state. Are they saying that they're ready for a fight with the so called "Zionist" state because such a war would be devastating for everyone and is barbaric as we are in the 21st century.
