P5KPL how can use all 4 giga ram in memory it show only 2.97 do i updata bios or do what plzz pl?

I am not familiar with "P5KPL" nor have I even heard of it but maybe it can not use that much ram, such as XP and 4gigs. My advice is to research into this if nobody else replys.
