Can an object to travel fast enough through the imperfect vac of space that it burns up sans atmosphere?

There is a very limited amount of vapor in the deep of space. Limited though it may be, can it possibly lead to friction burn-up of objects if they somehow manage to be propelled through it at a sufficient speed? If so, how fast would it have to be going?
