Do you hate it when people 'promise' things, when you know they cant promise something like that?

I make it a point not to promise an outcome, only to promise to do my best to try to attain a certain outcome...and if I do that, I do my best to try to achieve that outcome. I know that some people promise things in the future that I have little expectation of ever accomplishing, but I take it with the proverbial "grain of salt"...as long as their intentions are good, I try to take it as saying that they will try (in this case, to visit more often), and hold my hatred for those promises that are only attempts to mislead & take advantage of me or my family.
